They don’t want their nice little money-spinners brought to shambles by some newbie who just might have the personality and flair to attract subscribers and buyers away from the big guys. But because of the enormous opportunities on ‘How to create wealth working online’, I will narrow it down to Affiliate Marketing, which is the easiest and most immediate way to create wealth working online.

Affiliate marketing is the simple “middle person’s” business model. This is because you have none of the familiar extra work and disbursal involved in being a marketer. Do not get me wrong, you will still be “marketing” something, but you will not be tasked with creating the Real product, processing payments or grappling with customer service issues.

In affiliate marketing, all you get to do is create the introduction. Connect the customer to the vendor. As soon as that relationship is “validated” by a real sale, you get paid. Nothing could be easier.

Definition of Affiliate Marketing;

So, simply what is this charming thing called ‘affiliate marketing’? At most primary level, affiliate marketing is a ‘pay-for-performance’ advertising model. As an affiliate, what you are actually doing is advertising for the merchant you are affiliated with. If you look at this in terms of “problem and solution”, you will understand the groundwork for this model.

What is the single thing every website owner requires a lot of? Traffic. You may have the finest product in the world, but it will not sell unless you have real, live people visiting your website. Nowadays, there are a number of ways to generate traffic to a website. Virtually all merchants employ a combination of ‘natural’ traffic strategies — like obtaining a high ranking in the search engines and paid advertising strategies. The problem is that there’s but so much traffic a merchant can generate on her own — leastwise in terms of time and cost-efficient strategies. This used to be a great problem for smaller, independent companies who lacked the budget and ‘brand awareness’. Not, until the advent of ‘affiliate marketing’.

How Affiliate Marketing Works

Prior to the creating of your own products, it is easiest to learn the business by acting as a “middle-person” between the buyers and sellers of products. You will however use information to do this. This might look confusing initially, so let me give you an example:

Let’s say that an expected buyer is seeking information on lose weight. They will do their search in the search engine, and come across thousands of websites that offer diets, work out tips and lose weight tips. The primary interest for this likely buyer is: “Which solution is best for me?” Here’s where you come in as the ‘middle-person’. You have researched the lose weight market, and all of the leading solutions and products available in it. You resolve that “Green Tea” offers one of the best solutions for the money.

Your task, then, is to link up with that buyer and prove to him or her why “Green Tea” is a perfect solution for them to invest in. Put differently, you link up with the buyer, and then link up that buyer to the seller of ‘Green Tea’, and make the sale.

As an affiliate, you will require a certain skill-set, along with an armory of tools to aid you market and advertise affiliate products. The skills and the tools you require fall into approximately four general categories:

1. Critical thinking 2. Copy writing/ Marketing 3. Technical 4. Tools for setting up website and e-mail list

And it will also, require an affiliate to join an affiliate program in other to be an ‘Affiliate Marketer’. Some of the prominent affiliate programs are: ClickBank, commission junction, amazon. com, paydotcom etc.

In order to generate more traffic and sales, a merchant can start what is called an “affiliate program”. In applied terms, an affiliate program is simply the ‘structure’ under which the merchant will render support and incentive to the affiliates who join the program. Setting up the program requires the merchant to do a lot of things: Implement an affiliate “tracking” system, determine what to pay affiliates for each referred sale on a given product, arrange support and resources for affiliates so they can easily market the products.

Once an affiliate joins a particular affiliate program, he is given an “affiliate link”. This link is unique to that individual affiliate, and every visitor referred by the affiliate through that link is tracked and credited to the affiliate. Once you have the link, you can start using it on your own website, in e-mails, in Google AdWords ads, etcetera. The link will direct the visitor to the merchant’s sales page, while crediting you with the referral if a sale is made. Jolly easy, right?

Thus far, you have learned about affiliates and affiliate programs. Put the two into action and you have “affiliate marketing. “Affiliate marketing is plainly the process of marketing and promoting others products as an affiliate. This mode of affiliate marketing differs somewhat from that done by a merchant. An affiliate marketer puts some more concentration on pre-selling through information (education), and a lot less on ‘hype’. In this regard, you aren’t delivering a position toward pure profit motive. Rather, you are presenting yourself as someone who want to help people. It should go without saying that you actually do need to be of a genuine mindset towards helping Other people. Do what you enjoy and what you are good at, and the sales will follow. Am sure you will create wealth doing this, but build your skills first and wealth will be created.
